The number one thing people do is ignore the oil leak and top off the fluid when it is low. This is bad because depending on the severity of the leak that money you spend on oil may be better spent towards fixing the actual leak itself and the leaking oil becomes a road hazard.
Another possibility is buying a stop leak additive and putting it in your engine. THIS is the worst possible thing you can do. More than likely this will make it’s way into something important, like an oil galley and block oil from flowing where it needs to go.
