It’s that time of year again. I know the last thing I want is for my car to break down on a cold Fall morning/night. I try to follow the tips below so that I don’t catch myself stuck on Mira Mesa road somewhere helpless and uninformed.
Engine: Listen to your engine when you start your car in the morning. During these cold mornings, your car can tell you whether it’s is having an engine performance problem by hard starts, rough idling, and teetering of the engine caused by misfires. When in doubt, take the car into a shop and they’ll diagnose it for you. Remember, cold weather makes everything worse.
Filters: Time to change out those dirty filters and also get your regular maintenance performed. At MR Master Mechanics, we recommend no matter what to have your oil change service done ever 3K. Our preventative actions will save you money in the long run.
Battery: This is probably the most important time of the year to get your battery checked out. Since Winter is rearing its ugly little head soon, you want to make sure you have a good battery to last you through this cold weather.
And Last but not least, Tires: I’m always checking the tread life on my tires so that I don’t get caught in a Nasty situation on the road. During this season, rainfall is likely going to alter how you should drive. A good set of tires will also help with the prevention of bad weather driving. Check your tire pressure at least once a month and always keep a look out for any nails, nicks or cuts.
